The Koss Porta Pro is the guilty pleasure hamburger of headphones. If I want a 5 course meal with foie gras, Filet Mignon and Lobster tails, I'll cocoon into my Audio Technica MTX-50's. If I want a spicy thai stir fry or tasty sushi, I'll borrow my daughter's Audio-Technica MTX-30's.
All things aside, not sure what people are expecting from a $30 pair of portable 35mm driver headphones. I think portapros are a no brainer. The cost is so cheap and what you get for that cost is a very good bang for buck, light weight and convenient portable pair of headphones.
Headphones sharing this same driver include the Porta Pro, Sporta Pro, KPH30i, and the KSC35. Koss uses a titanium-coated version in the UR40 , KTXPro1 , and KSC75 . Besides a few colorway changes, the current Porta Pro model remains almost entirely unchanged from the original.
Downside of Vjay is that headband feels cheap and less durable comparing with Koss porta pro because Koss Porta Pro has stainless steel headband that feels more durable in a long run. Vjays Cable is springy but feels more durable though. Hope it helps.
I recently just bought Koss Porta Pro for 20 USD in Amazon Prime day. I read and watched many reviews that there is a screw part of the headphones that allows you to attach a mic. I have searched many websites and forums only to find out that it is true but no one has listed compatible microphones to be attached on the headset.
K oss is an icon in the headphone industry, and deservedly so! I’ve loved basically every Koss product I’ve ever used, from the classic Porta Pro to the stunningly neutral KPH30i to the surprisingly comfy and cheap UR20. The company has a long history of making excellent and important audio gear.
